The precast concrete equipment will connect the railway route between London and Birmingham

Moldtech has completed the assembly of a set of molds and equipment for precast prestressed concrete beams destined for the ambitious HS2 project, a high-speed railway project of utmost relevance, with our client TIERRA ARMADA, a leader in the sector and a company belonging to the FREYSSINET group.

In the first phase, the new railway line will have a length of 225 kilometers and will connect London to Birmingham. This train will almost halve the travel time between the two British capitals. In a second phase, there will be two additional branches reaching Manchester and Leeds, respectively. Later on, the project will also extend to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The HS2 project, which has captured industry attention, has benefited significantly from the crucial participation of Moldtech, a global leader in precast concrete equipment. Moldtech submitted a competitive bid that met the rigorous technical and economic specifications.

The strategic collaboration between Moldtech and TIERRA ARMADA has allowed addressing all stages of the construction process, from initial design to equipment and the delivery of the turnkey project.

The supply included three self-supporting hydraulic beds, weighing 800 tons, 1400 tons, and 1800 tons, each with a length of 90 meters, along with a comprehensive set of hydraulic molds for bridge beams of various shapes. These lateral systems integrate into the different beds with mechanical systems and high security. The supply also included other accessories such as central and tensioning head, hydraulic destressing units, lifting devices, etc.

The self-supporting prestressing systems incorporate the heads that support the tensioning and detensioning operations. It is used to produce any prestressed element, where the mold itself is capable of resisting the stresses of tensioning. The tensioning heads are designed to transfer force to these reaction columns. This design simplifies installation and dismantling, facilitating relocation to another production site.

The supplied hydraulic molds for bridge beams allow us to create countless configurations, providing the customer with a wide range of beams for the construction of this major project.

The collaboration and expertise of the teams formed between both companies have allowed us to offer equipment with a practical, robust, and easy-to-handle approach, ensuring that each stage of the process, from design to equipment and final delivery, meets the specific demands and needs of the customer. Additionally, compliance with the strict safety and hygiene standards required by the project management.

The strategic collaboration of both leading companies in the sector has solidified their reputation as global leaders in delivering tailor-made solutions for more efficient and sustainable infrastructure construction.

This achievement not only highlights excellence in delivering customized projects but also underscores Moldtech and TIERRA ARMADA's commitment to continuous innovation in the construction industry.
